Ingredients:
14-ounces firm or extra firm tofu*
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt
¾ cup BBQ sauce
Directions:
Remove tofu from the package and wrap in a clean towel or a couple of paper towels and allow it to drain for about 15 minutes.
Cut into cubes. I like to keep the cubes big enough to turn over in the pan easily. About 1 ½ inches by 2 inches.
Heat the olive oil on medium heat. Once hot, add the pieces of tofu. Be careful not to splash oil on yourself.
Cook for about 5 minutes, then turn to a different side. I try to get all sides evenly browned.
Once the tofu is golden brown on all sides, turn heat to low and add your barbecue sauce. Simmer for about 5 minutes, remove from heat, and serve immediately.
Good to Know:
Tofu is made of soybeans and contains no cholesterol. Tofu is an excellent source of iron and calcium. It is a great source of protein, too.
